Thursday September the 13th was a very much "aviation" day for me.
First of all, Sheremetyevo international airport held another annual autumn spotting event.
And another one, to be more precise - it is this was the first, I received an invitation to visit the "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft" company facilities at Zhukovsky.
And this will be the story today
So, welcome to SCAC!
2. Main target for me at SCAC was SuperJet full flight simulator. And here it is.
3. SSJ100 aircraft FFS simulator developed by Thales Training & Simulation in conjunction with the company "Sukhoi" and GosNIIAS. Thales Training & Simulation, manufacturer and supplier of FFS, is one of the leading companies specializing in high technology that profile.
4. FFS SSJ100 aircraft belongs to the latest generation of simulators "Reality 7." It has the most advanced system of electro-mobility, the visualization system with LCOS-projectors and an instructor workstation with improved ergonomics.
SSJ100 trainer certified "level D" in accordance with the international standard for the exercise equipment (JAR FSTD A). This is the highest level of certification flight simulators.
5. Welcome inside!
6. At the time we came inside Aeroflot pilots were prepearing for their training. So I decided not to bother them and Italian instructors too long. I hope I'll have another opportunity to get inside for more detail survey of the FFS. In the foreground - instructor's control panel that allows the instructor to change the situation and conditions of flight in just "two clicks" .
7. Preparations in progress
8. Thrust levers and dashboard of the SuperJet FFS.
9. Ready to taxi!
For an inexperienced person (well I think even experienced person has many things to marvel), the simulator is an amazing and striking mechanism. Except for some moments it creates a feeling of presence in this plane. From myself I wish Aeroflot pilots whom I distracted with my presence a bit and "stole" their time successful completion of training
In order not to interfere with the training we moved to the hangar which I visited on April 1st, 2009, when the the first two flying Superjets arrived to Zhukovsky.
And that arrival was in style
10.
There were five SuperJets in the Hangar.
First airframes for testing: 97001 (first ever flying SuperJet); 97003 и 97005.
11. And both Armavia SuperJets.
12.
Unfortunately Armavia is in poor financial condition and had to abandon the aircraft. But according to some insider information (or rumors i should say), even officially rejected in a very very "ugly" way, Armavia continues to "trade" them back.
By the way I was very surprised and shocked by the facts of so much lies on that situation with Armavia in the Russian media and in the Internet. The speculation was on the lies that Armavia rejected the aircfat as a nonprofitable. This's very annoying.
12.
13. The second SupeJet, intended for Armavia, is named in honor of the famous Armenian actor Frunzik Mkrtchyan.
14.
15. What radius is that?
16. The rest of the aircrafts, except for the 97001, are undergoing certain improvements and maintenance.
17. 97001 cabin close-up.
After some time SuperJet 97005 was pushed from hangar for some photoshoot.
18. The plane is used as a flying frame for pilot training and some innovations.
19.
A little closer look to some parts of the plane
20. PowerJet SaM146 (СМ146) - Superjet engine. The engine is manufactured by PowerJet, a joint venture between Russia's NPO "Saturn" and the French company «Snecma».
21.
22.
23.
24. Landning lights on the front landning gear
25. Left main gear
26. Meanwhile Tu-204 "Open Skies" was circling above.
Let's get inside the aircraft!
27. View of the wing and SCAC hangar
28. The overall plan cockpit.
29. The cockpit doesn't (of course) differ from the cockpit of the simulator
30.
31. Table that Aeroflot pilots demand so much. To tell the truth it's the first version, that was rejected by test pilots. But the work is going on!
32. Another view of the cockpit
33. Some cockpit details
34.
35.
36.
37. That's all! Thanks for whatching!
Many thanks to Olga Kayukova, Andrew Muravyov, and in general to all the staff for the invitation and SCAC for fantastic attitude to their work and the aircraft. Thank you so much! You are doing the right thing.
